12 Days Of Christmas

While I'm having a "12 Weeks Of Christmas Challenge", over at ScrapzBiz they are having a "12 Days" of Christmas challenge.
So here are my entries
We had to create a little box made from patterned paper - to which I just had to add one of my "peppermint" Handmade Daisies with a great red/white gingham brad.
The other challenge was to "recycle" - hello - one of my fave things to do.
So I used up some of the many empty ribbon spools I have in my craft mess - I have painted, added patterned paper and all sorts of things. For the top of the tree I added a mini dolly peg to which I stuck on a gorgeous little felt/wooden star.
It was easy, fun and a great little present to give to a family member - or perhaps you could just keep it yourself - now there's a thought!!!! LOL.
Those of you who know me, know that I'm no perfectionist so for this tree I have gone for the slightly "wonky" look - I dont like straight lines, anything perfect really so this little tree is a little "tower of pisa" you might say............LOL.
(Must make mention that I have seen something similar somewhere - just not sure where. I think form memory it had photos on it. I have had this idea in my head for a while now and thought I'd give it a go- the ideas are endless really. I can never thrown my spools out because I have lots of ideas to use them - just never get around to it....LOL....typical!!!!)

12 Weeks Til Christmas Challenge -4 Weeks to Go

Righto - I have some serious catching up to do. How about you? Have you been making any cards for my "12 Weeks of Christmas" challenge? If you have be sure to pop back in and let me know so you can go in the draw to win some of my new Handmade Daisies collection.

Here is my card for this week.

Sometime ago this year I created the pink/green combo cupcake card and thought I'd use the same idea to create a Christmas Cupcake card. There's nothing wrong with being inspired by your own work to create something similar.

So there you go - come on - how are those Christmas cards going?????????????

Look at this

I received an email from Michelle Smith this morning asking if it was ok to "share the love" as I like to call it, in regard to my "using up scraps" to create these cards.

http://mygreengravity.blogspot.com/2009/11/techniques-tutorials-tuesday-treasure_24.html

I scrolled down the post and found my little kraft cards using scraps. How nice is that.

Make sure you pop into Michelle's place for a lookie. Thanks Michelle!!!!!!

Looking back……………..

Just wanted to show you some quick and easy cards that I have made over the last year. Thought this may help get you enthused about making your own Christmas Cards.

I was especially pleased how the first card turned out – I just used a cheap candy cane from the $2 Shop for the “J”.

I was also happy how the orange/earthy cards turned out – these were published in Creative Paper Magazine last Christmas. These cards also came together really quickly.

12 Weeks Til Christmas Challenge - 5 Weeks To Go

Yet another pink card for the weekly challenge.

For this card I have used my embossing folder in my cuttlebug to create the backing for this card - I have also used kraft cardstock for a change. I stamped the angel stamp twice - once onto pink bazzill cardstock and then again onto kraft cardstock and just cut the kraft heart out and mounted it with double sided foam tape. Then I just stamped the little sentiment onto pink cardstock.

Very simple and very quick. Gotta luv that!!!!!

Thanks for looking.

Yet another question.

Just wondering if anyone has a sketch challenge they would like to share.

If you do - pop in to this post and leave me a link to a sketch that you like, maybe its a sketch that you have made up yourself.

Come on - let's get a little challenge happening for all to share in.

Thanks.

Luv Sandie

How is that Chrismtas Shopping Going?????

I have nearly got my Christmas Shopping done. Yay!!!!

How about you? Take it from me - DON'T leave it to the last minute. The shopping centres are starting to get rather busy and there's nothing worse than hunting for presents at the last minute.

Make a list - get yourself organised and GOOD LUCK!!!!

Luv Sandie

What do you do?????????

Another question - do you make all of your Christmas card the same or do you create different ones.

I usually make them all different but I'm thinking this year I may just go with a couple of designs.

Running out of time.

Must pop my "12 Weeks Of Christmas" cards up on my blog too - been slack.

Great news!!!!!

The girls are now catching the bus to school. A private company has just started up a bus service to their school. They are quite excited about it - for now anyway - it's something NEW I'm sure the novelty will wear off.

Which means I am now free of driving and it also means that I can start riding to and from school with Josh. He has been asking me for a while if he could ride to school but it's just safe enough. So we headed off on our bikes this morning which just so happened to run in conjuction with "Ride To School Day"......too funny. I must say that it was a bit of a shock for me - to and from school in the morning and then to and from school in the afternoon. I am going to be fit before you know it. It also suits me as I still can't walk with my shin splints and "bung" knees so hopefully all of this will help.

There you are. Just a bit of trivia in the Downey household.........LOL.

Luv Sandie

Just a question..............

This is a question for all the Aussies out there -

As it is summer in Australia in December, when it comes to making your Christmas cards do you include such things as snow flakes and snowmen?

I used to but now I tend not to. If anything it is the absolute opposite to snow. It's gunna be a stinker here tomorrow. Not looking forward to it.

I have a feeling that it may be bikini's for Christmas Day - now that's not a nice thought. LOL!!!!

One day I hope to celebrate a white chrismtas.

Friends Helping Friends - Part 2...........LOL!!!!!

My friend Cath has been busy too - also leading up to the busiest time of the year CHRISTMAS!!!!!! I cannot believe we are nearly there.
She has been creating these for quite some time now (once again - not sure where she got the idea from)
They are wooden letters painted up - she has now included my Handmade Daisies - yay!!!! and they are nicely embellished and then strips of ribbon attached to the back of the letters.
They are used for little girls to clip their hairclips/hairdos to. They can be mounted on the wall in the bedroom or even in the bathroom. Perfect gift if you are looking for something a little different.
They are made to order - you just choose the letter you require and the colour and then Cath can make them for you and arrange postage etc.

If you are interested in purchasing one of these goodies - just leave a comment here and I will give you Cath's details.
Thanks for popping in.

Just felt like it...............

I was just flicking through my blog and I came across this card I created for a Moxie Fab Challenge. And I just happenend to win. We had to create a card using our choice of bags given to us on the Moxie Fab Blog. I was immediately drawn to this bag as it reminded me of my Handmade Daisies and this is the card I came up with.
I just felt like popping it up again. You know when you create something sometimes and you are really happy with it? Well this was one of those cards. This is a keeper - just for me!!!!
Thanks for looking.

12 Weeks Til Christmas Challenge -6 Weeks to go

It's getting closer to the big day!!!!!!
Pink, pink and more pink.........LOL.
For this card I kept it VERY simple. I added a doodled border to the pink cardstock then detailed with some watercolouring. Then I simply stamped the sentiment using StazOn ink and the same for the branch - stamps are by HeroArts. Then I watercoloured the little berries too. I stamped the little owl onto kraft cardstock and again onto pink cardstock. I cut out the hat only from the pink cardstock and attached it to the head of the owl. I then added a little bit of doubled sided foam tape to the back of the owl and popped him on the branch.

There you have it. That's it. The trickiest part was cutting the little owl out but I have to say that I really enjoy cutting out I find it very relaxing.

Thanks for looking.

12 Weeks Til Christmas Challenge - 7 Weeks to Go

For this card I have used my Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background - love these funky circles. I also used my wonderful Nestabilities die cuts and then I used an old, old christmas stamp. I used to stamp this in reds and greens but thought I'd go the pink/brown combo. I then fisished it off with some kindyglitz which just made it stand out that little bit more.

Thanks for looking.

Christmas Cards All Year Round

Our Design Team Challenge for November at Christmas Cards All Year Round was to use ONE layer only. Now I have to tell you that for me - Little Miss Layer Queen - this was rather tricky.

Anyway here are my cards that I created. I have only used the card itself and then added only bling and ribbon.
Thanks for looking.

Card Patterns Sketch 39

Here is the card I created for a sketch challenge over at Card Patterns.

I added a recipe to the mix for a change - it's Lady Flo's famous Pumpkin Scones recipe. Good old Flo!!!!!

I used a pumpkin from clipart as my inspiration for the shape of the pumpkin and then just drew a bigger one, added some doodling, green florist wire for the curly bits, various stamps and other bits and pieces.

Thanks for looking.

Off to the cinema - "It's a Date"

Sean and I headed off on our date to the cinema with the tickets that I won.
We saw a great film "The Boys Are Back" starring Clive Owen - gorgeous by the way!!!!!
It was a really touching film. If you get a chance to see it - I would. I wouldn't say it was necessarily cinema material - you could easily watch it at home on dvd.
Sean thought it was a bit predictable in places - although I am a born romantic and usually just sit and get absorbed in a film rather than trying to nut it out.
The movie had 2 kids in it and the acting was unreal.
It has some beautiful Australian scenery. It was funny. On our drive home Sean asked "where do you think it was filmed?" His thought was NSW my guess was South Australia - guess who was right? ME!!!!!!!!!!! Yay.
So there you go.

Look what Amanda's been up to

I wish you all the very best of luck Amanda.

Well done.
