Looking back..............

I've been going through some of my work and forgot to share these with you.

These were for a challenge at Scrapz Biz back in November.

Mission 12 Embellishments

For challenge 12 - the requirement was to use at least 3 different embellishments.

(In this shot you can see that I've used the inside of the 'Quilton' toilet roll...........LOL)

I decided to base my layout on some rather funny photos of some of the kids creations. One day it was all quiet in the kitchen, I went to see what was going on to find these funny little "toilet roll people". I laughed and knew I had to take a photo of them. Josh went that little step further and had his dude complete with "butt crack".............LOL!!!!

As you know, recycling is my fave thing, so to tie in with the photo, I used a toilet roll and toilet paper on my layout.........LOL!!!!!

Mission 3 - Scrapz Biggest Loser

Mission 3 over at Scrapz Biz is to use at least 3 different spots paper.

I have used various spotty papers - some by Doodlebug, Scenic Route (no longer available - boohoo), Doodlebug buttons/journalling spot, dymo label, Unity Stamps "camera" stamp, mini green bulldog clip, brads and the black glossy cardstock is recycled packaging from some clothing I bought sometime ago. I used my craft knife to etch the edge of the card - just for something a little different.

I had fun with this layout and absolutely love the 2010 Christmas Photo Shoot of the kids.

Biggest Loser 2011

Over at Scrapz Biz there is a little challenge goin' on.

The idea is to have a bit of a clean up and challenge ourselves to use some goodies up from our stash.

So for challenge one - use of scraps and bits and pieces on your desk and use the Sketch Challenge to complete a layout.

So here is my take on the sketch.

I have used patterned papers by Sassafrass Lass and Echo Park, I have also used embellishments that have been sitting on my desk for ages. One of the goodies is a container that dressmaking pins would normally come on. I just knew I could use it for something - it's the white round disk.

Some Felt and An Old Envelope

That's right. I used some felt shapes and the inside of a window faced envelope - you know those lovely envelopes that bills come in? Yep the same ones.

I just added a doodled border using a red marker, stamped my sentiment and attached the sticky backed felt in place. This would have to be one of the fastest cards I've ever made.

Christmas In July - Day 9

DAy 9 already - today you will need to create a card with

Scallops - anything that resembles a scalloped edge - it could be using a die, ribbon, or button - choice is yours.

(For my card I have recycled - one of my fave things to do. I hung on to last year's Christmas Bon Bons - cut them up and made a card - easy)

Christmas In July - Day 7

Boy do I have some catching up to do. Note to self: get organised!!!!! LOL!!!!

Day7 - you will need to create a card

Merry - you need to creat a card with the word "Merry" on it - how you do it - is up to you.

(For my card I have recycled last year's Christmas Bon Bons. I cut it up, popped it through my Cuttlebug (star pattern) and added some ribbons and staples - that's it - very quick and simple)

AUSTRALIAN PAPERCRAFT ESSENTIALS ISSUE NO. 6

I am pleased to say that I have a set of cards in this month's issue of Australian Papercraft Essentials magazine.

I was commissioned by the magazine to create 5 cards using some fun Australiana stamps by Stamp It.

I incorporated some of the Australian flora - gum nuts, paperbark and other bits and pieces to create these cards.

So there you have it – if you get a chance to see the magazine, they are on page 74.

NAUGHTY AND NICE!!!!!

I just wanted to share this card that I created today. The idea came to me as I was lovingly devouring some Dove chocolates - you know the new ones that are individually wrapped? Of course you do. If you are a serious chocohollic like me you would know what I'm talking about........LOL!!!!

So here we are. I used some old buttons and covered them with the Dove wrappers - I just trimmed about a centimeter from around the edge.

Now the "Nice" part of the "Naughty AND Nice" is the I have used a recycled yoghurt lid - the foil part. I whipped it through my Cuttlebug using the circle embossing folder. Pretty cool huh?

I used a bronzy cardstock to co-ordinate with the bronze in the wrapper and added a bronzy/brown ribbon and silver button and star.

That's it - easy peasy!!!

Using up scraps

There's nothing I like better than using up scraps.

I made this card the other day and had some bits and pieces left over so I just had to create another card. I made it for my friend actually and she absolutely loved it.

I used my cuttlebug to emboss about two thirds of the green cardstock - didn't mind that look for a change and then I also used a Bosscut scroll die cut and of course the scraps of paper leftover from the above card. I also added one of my Handmade Daisies in Baby Pink.

Fun with recycling

Yesterday I had fun with recycling. (this is just a snippet in case they get snatched up for publication)

I keep all sorts of bits and pieces. I had a Basic Grey packaging form some chipboard and decided to whip up a couple of cards.

They turned out great so I put them in for publication. Shall let you know how I go.

Latest issue of For Keeps Creative Paper

Yay...........I've just come from the newsagents to find my cards in the latest issue.

They are on pages 14 and 15 "6 Cards in 60 Mins". I thoroughly enjoyed making these cards and loved using different colours other than the traditional red/green combo.

I went for the earthy, rustic feel and added all bits and pieces and only used the 1 sheet of Basic Grey pp which I happened to love too. Easy as.

Hugs, Laugh, Love

Here is a card that I created using up lots of bits and pieces. I had a clean up of my craft stash this week and had some bits and pieces just sitting on my desk. Great way of using up things.

I also added a sun to the top corner of the card using an eyelet as the centre and some embroidery thread for the rays. I stamped directly onto the Basic Grey ribbon using HeroArts stamps and StazOn ink. The centre of the flower is actually a washer thingy - technical name I know..........LOL, then I just added a button for the centre.

Sketch Challenge over at Pernickety

If you get a chance there is also a great sketch over at Pernickety. I just completed a card for it and came up with this one.

I have used an old paper doyley and ripped it - that was the challenge - a ripped flower, no bling, machine sewing (I cheated I used a stamp by HeroArts....LOL) and NO BLING. Hello that is not as easy as I thought...........LOL. OH and the the theme is "music" so I opted for a stem and leaf stamped with a music stamp by FernGully Stamps.

I was happy how this one turned out. I went for the colour combo when I was shuffling through my green pp I stumbled across this one which has a blue smudged edge to it - thought now that's something different.......

I also recycled the piece of the paper doyley that I ripped and used it as a scallop border down the bottom attached with staples.

Oh What A Beautiful Morning.........

..............the sun is shining through this morning so I thought I'd get up and take a photo of my card for My Weekly Sketch.

I have gone with an earthy feel for this card - recycled corrugated cardboard, green twine, natural mesh, grossgrain green ribbon, staples, Handmade Daisy, natural wooden button, 2 brassy brads and the "with love" stamp is by EK Success.

How is your card coming along? A new sketch will be up and running on Friday so you have a couple of days to go if you'd like to complete my first sketch.

Triple The Sketch - Sketch No. 15

Here is my take on Triple The Sketch for this week.

I have done some recycling for this card. I have used another one of my cards from the deck of cards that I bought at the op-shop. I have also recycled the packaging from a stamp from HeidiSwapp - the black glossy with the polka dot pattern down the side. (You can see another package on the left - I just card the name etc off)

For the playing cards I cut out rectangles and then added some flower rub-ons by Kaiser to each of the centres. I also cut a small tag from the playing card and added a "dream" rub-on too attached with a red heart brad.

The white rub-on down the bottom of the black card is also by Kaiser.

I luv to recycle.

Another card and some chit chat

Josh played footy this morning and they won by about 40 odd points. It was rather muddy - but of course the boys just loved that didn't they? LOL.

Home for a nice cooked lunch by Sean's mum - how cool is that? Way cool I say!!!!!

We had beautiful homemade pumpkin soup, scones and Lemon Delicious for dessert. Yummo!!!!!

I have just made this card. It was another challenge for Little Scrapbook Shop. We had to do stamped paper piecing. So that basically means stamping a stamp several times on different cardstock or patterned paper to give it a different look.

Here is mine. I have used Rebekka Erickson pp, red/denim cardstock, icypole sticks, stamps are by Upsy Daisy Desings and alpha stamps by Delish. I have also added staples, buttons and brown/white gingham trim.

Here are the goodies I found at the op-shop

As promised I am showing you my goodies I found at the op-shop.

Some old books, little records - one of them has a bird on the front - I can feel an OTP coming on with this one, some old bridge score books/notes etc - these look cool there are little strips of paper which i think I can add to layouts cards etc, some old coasters ready to be altered, a gorgeous old fashioned chopping board (at the back) and some circular playing cards - they are in the front - how cool are they? Not something you'd come across too often that's for sure.

So they have all been added to my growing stash of things just waiting to be used. When I make something I will be sure to add them to my blog to share with you.

Well I had better get back to things. Still have Sean's family with us. I should be up and running with things on Wednesday night hopefully.
