Christmas Cards All Year Round

Our Design Team Challenge for November at Christmas Cards All Year Round was to use ONE layer only. Now I have to tell you that for me - Little Miss Layer Queen - this was rather tricky.

Anyway here are my cards that I created. I have only used the card itself and then added only bling and ribbon.
Thanks for looking.

Card Patterns Sketch 39

Here is the card I created for a sketch challenge over at Card Patterns.

I added a recipe to the mix for a change - it's Lady Flo's famous Pumpkin Scones recipe. Good old Flo!!!!!

I used a pumpkin from clipart as my inspiration for the shape of the pumpkin and then just drew a bigger one, added some doodling, green florist wire for the curly bits, various stamps and other bits and pieces.

Thanks for looking.

Off to the cinema - "It's a Date"

Sean and I headed off on our date to the cinema with the tickets that I won.
We saw a great film "The Boys Are Back" starring Clive Owen - gorgeous by the way!!!!!
It was a really touching film. If you get a chance to see it - I would. I wouldn't say it was necessarily cinema material - you could easily watch it at home on dvd.
Sean thought it was a bit predictable in places - although I am a born romantic and usually just sit and get absorbed in a film rather than trying to nut it out.
The movie had 2 kids in it and the acting was unreal.
It has some beautiful Australian scenery. It was funny. On our drive home Sean asked "where do you think it was filmed?" His thought was NSW my guess was South Australia - guess who was right? ME!!!!!!!!!!! Yay.
So there you go.

Halloween - Yes or No?

(For my card I chose green (0f course) for my extra colour. I have used orange, black and purple too. I also created this card using a sketch from Card Patterns. I used a small image of a pumpkin in clipart for my design of the pumpkin - I just drew it bigger basically and then detailed with doodling, some green florist wire, old buttons, brads, various stamps, black wire and the recipe is the famous Lady Flo's Pumpkin Scone Recipe)
Do you celebrate Halloween?

Growing up Halloween wasn't celebrated much in Australia. I think its probably only taken off in the last 10 years or so.

Our family doesn't celebrate it at all - I've noticed a fair bit of goodies in the supermarkets and shops promoting it. I don't think it will ever be as big as in America but its fun for the people who do participate.

I have a theory - I reckon if everyone decided to hand out only "tricks" or instead of lollies it was health food only - the appeal wouldn't be as much. What do you think? LOL!!!!! It's true though - the kids just want to fill up on lollies - like they need the sugar - NOT!!!!!!

I am putting up a Challenge out to anyone who would like to join in.
I will leave challenge open until Friday 6th November so you have some time to join in.

All you need to do is:

1. Create a card with a Halloween theme OR create a card using Halloween colours - purple, orange, black. (Extra colours can be added if you like)
!!!!!!!!!!!!MUST BE NEWLY CREATED CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Pop back to this post and leave me a link to your card so we can all check it out.

3. For each card made your name will go into a hat to win some of my Handmade Daisies in those colours - purlple, black and orange.

There you go - not hard - just some fun!!!!!!!!

Magnificent Film

Yesterday a dear friend and I tripped off to the cinema to see "Julie & Julia".
It was SO what I needed to do - bit worn out from all of the press exposure..................LOL!!!!!!
If you get a chance to see the film I would recommend it - it is your typical "chick flick" of course but a beauty!!!! Lots of opportunities for a good old giggle and even a tear here and there.
As we walked out of the cinema we were both still thinking about the film. We then had a beautiful lunch - all the while thinking of the film and Julie's love of food - something my friend and I have in common too.............LOL.

Not much happening in Blog Land this week - as I said I am just trying to wind down a little.
Hope all is well in your part of the world.

10 YEARS AGO TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today marks the anniversary of winning $10,000.00 from Triple M Radio Station in Melbourne - 10 Years ago - wow the time has flown by so quickly!!!!!!!

You can read this post HERE.

I still cannot believe I won that kind of money. It certainly changed our lives. It enabled us to buy our first home - the home that we are still happily living in and will forever. I have quite often commented to Sean that I will not move from this home - I love it too much and the location is perfect. Close to shops - 5 minute walk. Close to everything really.

We are truly blessed.

Re-cap of THE night!!!!!!!!

Well girlies - last night was fantastic.

I hosted my 3rd "Girls Night In" event. It was bigger than big!!!!!!

I have been working away all week to get organised and nearly wore myself out but it was all worth it. This was all happening with my face on the front of the local newspaper too mind you. So many people came up to me and commented about it - I'm still in shock I think!!!!

The night kicked off at 7pm - everyone came dressed in something pink - it was so nice to look around the table at pink - one of my fave colours!!!

One of my friends handed me an envelope - she said I was to read it out. My first questions was "Is it embarassing?" She said "No - go on read it out!". I read it out and to my amazement her husband mentioned at his Tuesday staff meeting that I was holding a special night for Breast Cancer and he urged people to put some money in to go towards my night. I was very touched by this and totally shocked. He managed to raise $205.00. How cool is that? I was trying not to cry - I had goosebumps all over me. What a great start for the night.

I managed to rustle up some prizes for raffles - they were popular. There were raffle tickets everywhere and I also organised a "Lucky Ticket" prize. Everyone went home lucky - that was nice to see.

Picture this - 17 people in a SMALL kitchen measuring approximately 3 x 3 metres. It was very up close and personal. We just managed to squeeze in. It was a matter of putting your hand up if you wanted something. At one stage I heard "Stamp Pad to the fridge please, stamp pad to the fridge!!!!!! LOL. Great way of getting what you wanted though.

I stood there at one stage and was very proud - I am very blessed to have so many nice friends willing to join in the fun and raise money for such a great foundation.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos myself - however a couple of the girlies took some so as soon as I can I shall share a photo with you.

After everyone left - 11.30pm we counted up the money and we managed a grand total of $425.00. I was pumped. This is totally amazing from one little night with a handful of girlies.

Thank you to all of my dear friends for your great efforts.

Everyone was already talking about next year. I'm thinking I may have to change venues!!!!!! LOL.

Bye for now.

12 Weeks Of Christmas - Week 9

Here is my card for week 10.

I also created this card for Christmas Cards All Year Round.

Just the one layer card which is a FIRST fro me. I always have "lumpy and bumpy" cards.

This card would be a quick and easy card to whip up if you were running late getting those chrismtas cards ready. All I did was stamp the cute little bear stamp (unknown) and the Stampin Up Merry Christmas stamp. I then added a doodled border to which I did a little colouring using watercolour paints. The image is also painted using watercolour paints. Nice and easy!!!!!!

Thanks for looking.

But wait there's more........................

Oh girlies. Further to this post

I walk into the local newsagency today looking for the paper that my so called "little" write up would be in and what do I find.

ME ON THE FRONT COVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did a double take. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Here I was thinking it would just be a little story tucked away in the back of the newspaper - NO!!!!!! Here I am up front and personal. At first I was shaking and then I just had to laugh.

There you go. LOL!!!!!!
Luv Sandie
(P.S. I HAD ANOTHER GIGGLE WHEN I NOTICED THE ADD AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FRONT COVER "GETTING YOU INTO SHAPE........" ARE THEY TRYING TO TELL ME SOMETHING OR WHAT? LOL!!!! THEY SURE ARE!!!!)

I Can Sing A Rainbow!!!!!!!!!

It's World Card Making day in Australia over at Little Scrapbook Shop

We were given 3 challenges if we wanted to take up the challenge.

The first challenge was to create a set of 3 Birthday Cards

wcmdsetof3birthdaycards birthdaywish1
birthdaywish2 birthdaywishes3

The second challenge was to follow a sketch challenge - one of my fave challenges to do!!!!! I decided to go “round” and create a circle card. I was pleased how it turned out for a change.

LBOSSketch139 wcmdsketchchallenge
wcmdsketchchallengea

And the third challenge was to create a Christmas card or 2 or 3 or more – it was up to ourselves. So I thought I’d create a “rainbow” set of cards.

Lately I have been making a lot of square cards from A4 cardstock. When I cut the square card that leaves me with all of these little offcuts which I just cant throw out. Then I came up with the idea to use some of them on these cards.

I kept these cards fairly simple - I used my Spellbinders Label Die set to create the shape and then stamped a Christmas Tree stamp by Kelly Panacci using brown ink. I added embellishments to each card - ribbons, buttons, bling, metal embellishments and other bits and pieces. I was happy how the rainbow turned out. I have to say these came together really quickly. You should give it a go.

Thanks for popping in.
