Use Up Those Unwanted Alphas

I was just visiting one of my regular forums and someone posted this link

http://www.scrabblesolver.net/

It's a handy way of using up all of those alphas you have leftover from cards/layouts etc.

Just pop in the letters you have and bingo bango - it gives you some ideas.

Now that is handy!!!!! Just wanted to share with all of my friends.

Do you see what I see?

Today I took our girls for a drive into the beautiful rolling hills of Emerald.

We dropped in our friend Kathryn. As soon as I got out of the car I had my camera in hand and couldn’t stop snapping – the scenery out there was breathtaking. It was just what I needed. The smell of the country air was unreal too and the company of course.

Here are just some of the photos I took before the camera batteries decided to give up – pooh!!!! I will definately be back for another photo shoot. Oooh we also got to see some beautiful new baby lambs – that was after the camera batteries so next time.

In one of the shots you will see a nice little shack – this is Kathryn’s newly acquired workers hut that she has converted to a craft room or as she calls it “The Cupboard”……LOL!!!

There is only one problem that I can see from today’s visit – now I WANT A HUT of my own……….LOL.

Thanks for a fantastic day Kathryn and Annette – it was great to catch up.

My recap of Picture 2 Page

I managed to go to Picture 2 Page on Saturday. I caught up with my friend Kathryn which was great.

I have to say I missed seeing Vicky and my dear friend Lyn who is suffering at the moment. You were both in my thoughts though - that's for sure!!!!!!

I arrived just after 10 and got straight into hunting. I have to say that there possibly wasn't as many stalls there this time - but the ones that were there were great.

I managed to buy some patterned paper - Cosmo Cricket was one of them - ONE of my fave brands. I also bought a couple of stamp sets and some ribbons, chipboard and some other bits and pieces.

I hung around til just after 1 o'clock so that was pretty good.

Oh I nearly forgot - I dropped into Alison Ellis Designs - Alison and Maynard sent me some of the new papers to play with and I managed to make 6 cards to add to the stash of goodies that had on display.
I was quite chuffed at one stage when I was passing by. I noticed 2 ladies standing in front of the stall looking at my cards - they had a note book in hand and were sketching away getting some ideas of the samples. Pretty cool.

So there you are - pretty good day.

So You Think You Can Scrap Round 4

Well here we are Round 4 of So You Think You Can Scrap over at Scrapbook Capital.

This week our challenge was to

Rip ( I ripped the patterned paper)

Sew (I machine sewed - my very FIRST time - yay)

Alter (We had to alter the photo in photoshop etc - I opted to use Paint.net and used the "posterize option"

Fold (I folded the top of the patterend paper to reveal the double sided pp)

Insert (I inserted a journalling tag behind the orange zip)

So there you have it - all sorts of bits and bobs also added. The photo of the layout hasn't come out as vibrant as it is in real life. I have used a really bright orange bazzill cardstock as the base - another one of my challenges. I used to hate orange and now its grown on me.

(You can see in the second shot that the photo has been altered – it has the motly look)

So You Think You Can Scrap Round 3

Well it's that time again - time for my layout to be entered into the 3rd round of So You Think You Can Scrap at Scrapbook Capital.
The challenge had to contain 2 or more of the following
Chalk
Paint
Ink
Oil
Plaster
Bleach

So I opted for chalking - I chalked the word "fabulous" at the bottom of the layout.
I inked the flowers and the leaves using Brown StazOn ink then I painted each flower and leaf with several colours of paint. I actually used a sheet of artists canvas and stamped directly onto that - this was lots of fun and so great to paint onto. The back of the photo is a sheet of canvas as well. I had fun with this by fingerpainting directly onto the canvas - metallic blue for the sky and green for the grass.

The other technique I used was bleaching - I stamped the "Love is a child's smile" stamp into a little bit of household bleach and then stamped onto some recycled pink cardstock.

So there you have it - this is a photo of my cheeky little niece "Logan"..........she has the most gorgeous eyes.
Thanks for popping in.

I have always loved this song.................

and I have always and will always love my love - Sean.

When I first saw the movie Pretty Woman I instantly loved this song.

It has a special meaning to it for us too - I asked the DJ at our Wedding to play it for my new husband Sean.

This one's for you babes.

I will love you forever.

Card Challenge

Another challenge was to create a card using a sketch form Little Scrapbook Shop. We also had to make it a "male" theme which made it a bit tricky but I did it.
I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the shapes and then added a tape measure (I have a thing for tape measures of late) and some little alpha stickers by Carolees Creations.

Thanks for popping in for a sticky.

Luv Sandie

Here is anothery

Another challenge was to create a layout with a "male" in it and to add some journalling that was staggered on the page.
Here is a rare shot of Sean and the kids taken in the city. Sean and I don't usually put our hand up for photos so this was a nice one that I captured.
Thanks for looking.

From Little Things Big Things Grow

This weekend there is a Cybercrop Challenge over at Little Scrapbook Shop.

One of the challenges if you chose to take it on was to create a little album/book – completely from scratch.  This involves cutting and scoring your pages, adding a front and back cover and even a spine cover.  Gosh that sounds a lot but when you get into it – it was lots of fun!!!!!

I am going to use it as a “Brag Book” for my gorgeous little Sudanese babies that I helped introduce into the world.

These images show the front cover and one of the pages – this is Stephen’s 1st Christmas – he was such a special sight to see on Christmas Day.

Thanks for looking.

(Sending out a special hello to my dear friend Jen who by now should be having a sticky beak at my blogs for the first time – hi Jen!!!!!!)

Another embarassing story.

If you know me - you will know that I am pretty good at embarassing myself sometimes. I can also laugh at myself - which in this case - is just as well!!!!!!!

I did canteen duty at the girls school on Monday. After I'd finished I had a bit of time to kill before it was time to pick them up from school. I drove into town and did a bit of shopping.
When I got out of the car I noticed my friend sitting in the park having her lunch and she was talking on the phone. Anyway, I just gave her a wave and went into one of the shops.
When I came out again she gave me a wave. I put my goods in the car and decided to walk on over and talk to her as she was now off the phone.
I sat myself down with a big sigh as my feet were a bit sore from standing in the canteen. I went on to start off the conversation by asking her how she was etc when I turned around only to discover it wasn't my friend......................LOL. I am killing myself laughing as I type this.
So in true Sandie fashion I just went on talking like nothing had happened - she must have been thinking - "who's this freak?"..............LOL.
I was thinking the whole time - now do I fess up to my mistake or do I just keep on talking. I opted for just keep on talking as I'm usually good at talking to strangers anyway.
You know it was embarassing but at the same time she did look a little down and in need of someone to talk to. As it turns out she works in the local bakery which I have frequented several times this year so - its not all bad!!!!!

Funny - When I told the kids and Sean they were almost embarassed for me but we all had a good old belly laugh.

So there you go.

What have you done that is embarassing - or more importantly that you'd like to share with everyone.

LOL.

Such a lovely story

I was driving the girls out to school this morning when we spotted the most romantic thing.

Along the roadside were these signs with beautiful purple balloons attached to them.

The first one read: Karly I love you
The second one: And I always
The third one: will forever.
The fourth one read:

"Will You Marry Me?".....................how romantic is this?

I hope whoever Karly is that she says "yes". I had goosebumps all over me and all of us girls went "ohhhhhhhhhhhhh" at the same time.

See - there are still romantics out there.

I shall let you know if I find out any more info about it.

Just a quick update

Just thought I'd better pop in and do a quick update.

Nothing much happening really - just the way I like it!!!!!

Friday night we all headed off to the girls high school for the musical "Beauty & The Beast". It was fantastic. Apparently it was the biggest cast they have ever had. It was a real credit to the school.
Tammy had several minor rolls in the play - one of which was a broom......LOL. She really enjoyed it. So the many months and many hours leading up to the show definately paid off.
Em helped out backstage, makeup - wherever they needed her.
She actually received a little thank you gift from 2 teachers who said that she was one of the hardest workers they have had in a very long time - we were very proud of her. If you ever need anyone to do anything for you - Em is the girl. Or she will just jump up and do something without being asked -she has a very generous heart.

Sunday was Father's Day so that was nice. We had the morning with the kids and Sean then we headed off to mass and then caught up with my dad for lunch.
Back home for Sunday night dinner with Sean's dad - so all in all a great day!!!!

Josh has been away on a 2 night camp up in the Dandenongs - let me tell ya - it has been mighty quiet and I'm SO looking forward to seeing him back tonight.

I have been busy working on my Handmade Daisies all while watching the good old chick flicks. I watched "Breakfast at Tiffanys" yesterday which I hadn't seen before. Great film.

So there you are - that's the latest goss. Nothing too spesh.

Hope all is well in your part of the world.

Chrismtas Cards All Year Round

I'm a bit late this month with my card. So here it is.

It's very subtle but when you see it in real life it's actually better.
I have used a sheet of acetate and cut a tag out and then run it through the Cuttlebug to give it a nice feel. I then stamped the old clock face onto acetate and cut it out and attached it using a silver brad. Just popped a bit of white organza ribbon to the top of the tag and stapled a navy flower to the side.
Thanks for looking.

Friends - priceless treasurers!!!!!!!

You know today I am sending out the BIGGEST thank you to all of my lovely friends.

Over the last couple of days I have been so lucky - just when I need a friend - one comes along.
The timing couldn't be any better.

On the weekend Vanilla sent me the most beautiful email - with such lovely words in it - it warmed my heart.

Yesterday I had a cuppa with a friend who is going through a bit at the moment - we laughed - something we do quite often because let's face it - if you didn't laugh sometimes - you'd cry.

Then today I was VERY uptight about something - I was trying to alter my Handmade Daisies Blog Header and stuffed it all up somehow - I was up til 1am this morning trying to fix it and rather upset and frustrated. I decided to call on a friend - Tara. Tara to the resuce - what a treausre. You know I reckon God had something to do with this - it just popped into my head - contact Tara I reckon she could help me. And she did!!!!!

And finally - I went to the mail box to find the most beautiful card from my friend Wirg. I cried again. The timing was perfect. It is such a happy, cheery card. I shall take a photo tomorrow when the weather is better, oh and some gorgeous little bits and pieces to play with - thanks Wirg.

So there you go - like I said - friends are the most priceless treasures and I am so lucky - I am rich!!!!!!!!

To all my other friends - I'm sending you a big kiss and a nice big hug.

Take care.

Luv Sandie
