I received 2 awards yesterday - how cool!!!!

I received two awards yesterday

This one from Lavs

And this one from Cindy

Thank you girlies.

I want to share this story with you.

At our parish this week we have had a visiting priest who has been running a "Mission" for our church. It has been so uplifting, one minute you are laughing and then next you are crying - it really stops and makes you think about where you have come from and where you want to go.
Today/tonight is the last session - I'm feeling really sad about that.
I decided to make mass this morning as I've been busy the other mornings. So off I went and listened to father read a letter that an american soldier had written after the Vietnam War.

The soldier was wounded and was spending time in hospital. He wrote a letter to his mum and dad back home in Wisconsin. In the letter he wrote that he was in hospital and that he would be coming home soon. He had a favour to ask of his mum and dad. He wanted to know if it would be ok for him to bring his best friend back home with him. He had spent some time whilst in hospital getting to know this friend, he had no family and he thought it would be nice for him to come back home. The son went on to explain that his friend had lost half of his leg, lost an arm and his face was very badly disfigured.
The soldier's parents wrote a letter back to him saying that it would be impossible for them at their age and with their terrible health to take on this responsibility, they could understand what it meant to him to bring him home too, but it just wasnt going to work.

2 weeks later the parents had a knock at the door - the person told them that they had some terrible news. Their son was dead. His body was brought back home. The parents were to arrive at the army barracks to view the body. When they saw their son - there before them they saw their son - missing half of his leg, only one arm and a disfigured face.

It was their son who had the terrible injuries. Their son who couldn't come to terms with his injuries. If he had only told his parents the truth - that it was he who needed to come home in the state he was. It was now too late.

(I just sat in the church and started to cry - such a sad story. )

Life is too short, too precious.

Just had to share this story as I was moved by it.

A quote by Helen Keller

A visiting priest to our parish this week mentioned this quote from Helen Keller.
I just loved it and wanted to share it with you. Its very moving.

“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.”

It's so true - anyone can make a difference to someones lives - even if it is only one small thing.

It's got to be "perfect"

Hey I used to love that song.........LOL>

I have made this card using a few different textures and embellishments - flowers, buttons, metal, lace.............tfl.

MY BLOG HAS JUST TURNED 1

Well I have only just remembered that it is a year since I commenced this great BLOG.

A lot has happened in a year - that's for sure and boy have I had some fun along the way.

So in celebration of My Blog turning 1 I would like to give away a little prize.

Leave me a comment and I shall draw a name out of the hat.

The prize will be a mystery - something different.

Thanks So Much

This card was made up as I went along.............LOL. I started by stamping out some yellow petals using Inque Boutique stamps, then I added some ripped mulberry paper for the stem and stapled it to the card, I added a strip of double sided tape to the bottom of the card and then crumpled more mulberry paper and did some hand sewing along the bottom. Stamped "thanks so much" in brown stazon with stamp by StampinUp.

Take time.............

Today's card is made using an acetate sheet by MME Starbrst"Little Blossom" Frame to which I have stamped the Take Time stamp by HeroArts using brown StazOn, added a large blossom and a wooden button - one of my fave buttons as it reminds me of an apple pip. Brown brads to attach the sheet to each corner and some pink ribbon along the bottom, edged card with brown stazon.

Weigh In At STARS

Weighed in last night and lost another 500grams. That's 4 kilos since Christmas which i'm pleased with considering last year was a hopeless year - I just kept gaining instead of losing.

We also had a guest at our club last night. Word Of Mouth is the company. They come along to any group and give you samples and taste tests of new products. The girl actually was promoting more diet friendly food for our group - just as well. They have giveaways and all sorts of things. Very interesting and fun night.

Making Memories

This card was using Making Memories paisley pp. I have had this for yonks. I think it was one of the first pp's I ever bought. I have also used a paisley stamp by Buzz n Bloom, some seed beads and KaiserCraft Rhinestones.
(Oh and I have to
re-attach one sneaky little green
bead that managed
to full off.......LOL)

Here is a card I have made just using an cardboard box. I just cut it down to fix a square card and then distressed it by simply ripping layers off it. Stamped out some hearts from the Heidi

Swapp foam stamps and added some twine.

All Things Paisley

I was really pleased how this card came together. Blue/green combo again. This time I used one of the Maya Road Paisley Chipboard shapes and inked the outside with green ink and stamped a script stamp over the top of that using blue ink, then I inked the next with blue ink and then finally then centre I inked with green ink then added some dimensional magic to which I dropped in some green and blue beads and finally some green microbeads.

Fair dinkum unbelievable!!!! Great start to the day. I was going to walk the kids to school but I'm dropping them off and then I'm going to head to the lake and walk a couple of laps just to get rid of the frustration and hopefully get rid of some pounds while I''m at it.

Sorry to vent - had to tell someone.

Tonights weigh in.

Well as I have said I haven't been feeling the best this week but I must admit I did pick up a little bit after I weighed in at STARS tonight - I lost 1kilo. Yay for me. Now I have to keep up the good work. I have been walking the kids to school, going for extra walks as well so all the hard work is paying off.

Early night tonight me thinks.

Hope you are all well.

This Week At Remember When's Blog

I missed out on updating Remember When's Blog on Monday as I have been feeling a little off this week.

I have completed this card for today instead. I have used a "Floral Border" which would normally suit a layout, however, I like to think outside the square so I cut it to fit my card.

Here it is. Very simple really but I was happy how it turned out.

Just a note

I recenlty participated in a Secret Product Challenge at Scrapbook Capital.

Lorrie sent me 2 different types of diary cards. It was up to us what we wanted to create with them so I naturally opted for a card.

I turned it into a note that was hidden in the front of the card - I adhered 3 sides of the front of the card and left the top open where I could slip the note in......as shown in the photo.

Here it is.

Not much happening.

Have been a little out of sorts the last couple of days so hence not much happening in blog world.

Over the last week we have had a new footpath put in our street which just happens to be on our side of the street - pooh cack. Our street hasn't had any footpaths at all so its a bonus in some ways but may cause some riff raff I suppose.

I only said on the weekend to Sean "million bucks when they lay the cement that some turkey will come along and write something in it - in front of our street" so what happened today after they laid it - yep someone wrote in it "gabby" i'm guessing going by the words written in it.
I was livid. I was looking at it when Sean drove up our street so he had one of those thingies that you smooth out the cement with. I took off to pick up the kids - gone 30 mins tops when I came back - they had written in it again. I couldn't believe it - this time it said "you shouldn't write in wet cement".............are you kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So this time I got the smooth thingie out and did it and then I left the car parked outside our place and I sat in the car in peace and read Jane Austin Book Club book........it was great. Anyone that dared to walk past our place was instantly under suspicion. I stayed there til 5.30 and nothing............beauty.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! Very frustrating. I noticed they had written stuff here and there along our street - but not out the front of our place thank you very much.

Dont mess with me is all I can say.

phew............that feels a little better.

Ever Since..............

Ever since I was a little girl mum would always find me in her sewing basket - looking at ric-rac, sorting through hundreds of buttons - I used to put them all in colour code. I would sit and do this for hours.

Another thing I liked to do was to deliver some flowers that mum would pick in the garden. I would go and deliver them to someone in the street.

This weekend at the Little Scrapbook Shop there is a Cybercrop and the challenge was to make a mini album using recycled cardboard from a box. So this is the album I came up with.

I have filled it with flowers, sewing goodies and buttons.

Thanks for looking.
