Enjoy the Journey

Here is a card I have made using a large circle scallop die cut (thanks to my very nice mate) to which I have stamped a Lil Davis stamp using Black StazOn. Then I have added a swirl black/cream ribbon and the title.

Spotlight 20% off all day today

I decided to head off to Spotlight this morning in search of a bargain.

Heading along the new Bypass and then the traffic came to a halt. There was an accident, so that meant sitting in the car for 20 mins until the traffic started to move. A ute had hit a delivery truck..........didn't look like anyone was hurt - hopefully.

Then I got to Spotlight and had a bit of a lookie around - got myself a few little bits and pieces. Shall take a photo of them a bit later. Had to wait another 20 mins in the queue...............fun..........gotta feel for the checkout chicks.

Home for lunch and then I have been doing some catching up on some forums and then finally I will get to create.

Hope all is well in your part of the world.

Pooh Cack!!!!!!!

I have been trying to sort out my desk today and work area and then the ants decided to come along and help...............NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I have dobs of ant-rid all over the place and trying to clean up at the same time. Why is it that there just never seems to be enough room for anything? Maybe it has to do with constantly buying new stuff.............oopsie!!!! Must make a pact about not buying anything else until.........................well.................I at least use up some goodies................and at least til..........................the next craft show...................LOL.
Speaking of shows - I entered a competition to win 2 tickets to the Stitches & Craft Show.........didn't hear anything yet unless it comes in Tuesday's post. Fingers crossed.
Otherwise I reckon I'll wait til Paperific.

Not much else happening really. I really want to get stuck into some creating - I've really missed it over the last week or so.

New school

Cant remember if I posted this info in my blog or not..........but here goes.

Last year we made the decision to hold Emily back and repeat Grade 6 as she just wasn't ready to make the big step to secondary college. We had her enrolled with St Fracis Xavier College in Berwick.
So we deferred her and she is repeating Grade 6, what a relief that is as she is still struggling a little, however, she has come a long way at the same time.

Anyway, Sean and I went for an interview at another school on Thursday. This one is a public school. We were amazed at how much is on offer at this school. It has a nice country feel to it and Em is going to be so happy there. Tammy of course will be going at the same time as she is also in grade 6 this year. And of course that will mean that Josh will attend this school too in a couple of years.

The only downfall will be that I will have to drive the kids to school as were are out of the zoned area for the bus but this is a small price to pay for the peace of mind that this school has.

When we told the girls they were a little stunned and upset, however, after talking to them after the interview they are very excited. I am going to arrange a little visit to the school - possibly next week.

So onwards and upwards I say - all the worrying and stewing last year has lifted a little after making the decision of sending our kids to this school.

Just had to share as this has been a lot of my worries over the last year.

Another year older................

Yep that's right. I'm another year older today.

The kids woke up early and came in to give me my presents. They gave me the chocolates they picked out secretly the other day. Gorgeous kids - they spent their pocket money and tooth fairy money. How nice!!!! Very precious. Must take a photo before they are devoured.

Sean bought me a gorgeous blue top and the Thirsty Merc CD which I just love.

I'm a lucky girl.

Mum and Dad are coming for lunch today which is lovely - it was Dad's birthday yesterday so its a double celebration.

Big bike ride

Today we met Sean's aunt and uncle at the railway station - they came on the train with their bikes and then we headed off on a ride together - Sean's mum and Sean and I. It was a really great ride - but I tell ya..........I'm really feeling it now.

We had a fab day in the city yesterday - went into Melbourne for the Food & Wine Festival - they had a coffee day at the Docklands - it was great. Lots of taste tests and giveaways, we also saw John So - the Mayor.

The best part was an icecream with espresso coffee over the top - oohlala.

Well must go and get tea organized.

Been cookin...............

I have been cooking and baking this afternoon.

First of all I made a chicken casserole. I call it "A LA Sandie"..........LOL. It has chicken, pasta, tomatoes, basil, oregano, vegetables and then once its done you just pour some cheese over the top - very tasty.
Then I made a boiled fruit cake for Sean and a Cornflake Slice.

Think that might do me for today.

Take care.

How gorgeous...........

I dropped Em off at her friends place for the day this morning and then drove into town to do some shopping.
Tam and Josh wanted to go into the Chocolate Shop to buy something for Pop - his birthday is this Thursday. They are wondering around the shop and taking ever so long - and they were getting a little anxious. I asked Tammy what was the matter and she explained that they were trying to buy me a little surprise too - its my Birthday on Friday. So I just said that I would wait at the front of the shop while they went ahead having a little lookie and buying the goodies.
The lady in the shop was so nice to them. She asked them would they like them in a little bag and wrapped. Josh was funny - he went on to tell the lady that as it was Lent he had given up lollies and chocolates and that he wasn't finding it too hard surrounded by all of the wonderful things.........she was impressed with them.

So off we walked out of the shop - they were looking very chuffed.

Gotta luv em!!!!!!!!!

I received 2 awards yesterday - how cool!!!!

I received two awards yesterday

This one from Lavs

And this one from Cindy

Thank you girlies.

I want to share this story with you.

At our parish this week we have had a visiting priest who has been running a "Mission" for our church. It has been so uplifting, one minute you are laughing and then next you are crying - it really stops and makes you think about where you have come from and where you want to go.
Today/tonight is the last session - I'm feeling really sad about that.
I decided to make mass this morning as I've been busy the other mornings. So off I went and listened to father read a letter that an american soldier had written after the Vietnam War.

The soldier was wounded and was spending time in hospital. He wrote a letter to his mum and dad back home in Wisconsin. In the letter he wrote that he was in hospital and that he would be coming home soon. He had a favour to ask of his mum and dad. He wanted to know if it would be ok for him to bring his best friend back home with him. He had spent some time whilst in hospital getting to know this friend, he had no family and he thought it would be nice for him to come back home. The son went on to explain that his friend had lost half of his leg, lost an arm and his face was very badly disfigured.
The soldier's parents wrote a letter back to him saying that it would be impossible for them at their age and with their terrible health to take on this responsibility, they could understand what it meant to him to bring him home too, but it just wasnt going to work.

2 weeks later the parents had a knock at the door - the person told them that they had some terrible news. Their son was dead. His body was brought back home. The parents were to arrive at the army barracks to view the body. When they saw their son - there before them they saw their son - missing half of his leg, only one arm and a disfigured face.

It was their son who had the terrible injuries. Their son who couldn't come to terms with his injuries. If he had only told his parents the truth - that it was he who needed to come home in the state he was. It was now too late.

(I just sat in the church and started to cry - such a sad story. )

Life is too short, too precious.

Just had to share this story as I was moved by it.

A quote by Helen Keller

A visiting priest to our parish this week mentioned this quote from Helen Keller.
I just loved it and wanted to share it with you. Its very moving.

“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.”

It's so true - anyone can make a difference to someones lives - even if it is only one small thing.

It's got to be "perfect"

Hey I used to love that song.........LOL>

I have made this card using a few different textures and embellishments - flowers, buttons, metal, lace.............tfl.

Thanks So Much

This card was made up as I went along.............LOL. I started by stamping out some yellow petals using Inque Boutique stamps, then I added some ripped mulberry paper for the stem and stapled it to the card, I added a strip of double sided tape to the bottom of the card and then crumpled more mulberry paper and did some hand sewing along the bottom. Stamped "thanks so much" in brown stazon with stamp by StampinUp.
