So here is my take on the Retro Sketch challenge 49.

Thanks for popping in.

WORLD CARD MAKING DAY

Yes - that's right!!!  Today is World Card Making Day.  All over the world card makers will be creating away - in groups, with friends or even on your own.  It doesn't matter - just go crazy and make cards.  Perhaps you could make a start on your Christmas card (note to self - start Christmas cards.....LOL).

So to help celebrate I am giving away some of my daisies.  The winner will get to choose a colour combo of their own.

So I dug up some of my old sketches (and very sketchy they are too..........LOL).

You can interpret these as you like - you may turn them sideways and you can add whatever you like.

Have fun and leave me a comment to this post with a link to your creation or drop me an email with a photo that I can share with everyone. Deadline will be Saturday 8th October.

I  hope you all have a great weekend.

What’s Been Happening?????????

Here I am again. Back with updates.

It's all happening in the Downey household.

Not 1 but 3 new jobs in our house.

I can officially tell you now that I have a casual job at the Scrapbook Lady in Pakenham. This is ULTRA exciting - but not only me - Emily has a little job there too just putting things away, pricing etc. How cool!!!!!

And the 3rd job goes to..........................Sean. He has officially resigned from Bunnings after nearly 10 years and is now the Store Manager of Darren Spargo's Photography in town. We are all very excited about Sean's new move - big decision - but it will great to have him working locally instead of travelling each day. He will start early December - right in time for the Silly Season!!!!!

So there you go - we all went out last night to celebrate - drinks all round!!!!

So hence that is why I haven't been updating my blog as much lately - flat out having fun. I am absolutely loving my job and look forward to the days I work. Yay!!!!!

Speaking of work - I created a Sketch Challenge which runs from November up til the week before Christmas. We are promoting our NEW Mini Banner - customers come in, make a small purchase, pick up their FREE Mini Banner and sketch challenge, go home, create a layout, bring it back into the store and then it will be judged by someone independent and they will win a hamper of goodies. Pretty cool huh?

sketch challenge1

I know a lot of you are not locals - but you can always just join in the sketch challenge. Just follow the sketch and leave me a link to your creation. Would love to see what you create. (Having troubles updating the sketch as it’s in Word format – if I can I shall convert it and share with you, otherwise you can just follow my basic layout)

I have added the banner - just kept most of it in the raw chipboard and then embossed the little scalloped trims. This is little Stephen's first Christmas. I just adore this photo.

(On the baby front - our gorgeous Sudanese friends - George and Medina are expecting baby no. 3 just before Christmas - how exciting!!!!)

Well that' it from me. I will be popping in pretty randomly with any updates of as my mum used to say as we walked through the door "any news, notes or gossip?"................LOL.

Luv ya.

Looking for a sketch challenge?

If you are looking for a sketch challenge - then jump on over to Scrapville.

I created a card for the June Challenge

I created this card using my all time fave papers - October Afternoon - I used all different ranges from OA. Turned it into a rustic looking card distressing it with ink, ripping it and scrunching it.

Christmas In July – Day 5

Gosh this time is going fast. I seriously need to catch up - I have only created 2 cards so far - but I have plenty of ideas to create my cards - just have to find time.

So for today's challenge you need to

use the following Sketch to create a Christmas Card.

go sketches

(My card has been created using up scraps of patterned paper by Scenic Route and Pink Paisley. I used a stamp by Autumn Leaves)

(This sketch is taken from “Go Sketches” magazine. I purchased this earlier in the year. It is filled with lots of great sketches and fantastic samples from people all over the world – priceless. I quite often go to a sketch when I need inspiration. I reckon this one is a beauty.)

Happy creating.

Yet another question.

Just wondering if anyone has a sketch challenge they would like to share.

If you do - pop in to this post and leave me a link to a sketch that you like, maybe its a sketch that you have made up yourself.

Come on - let's get a little challenge happening for all to share in.

Thanks.

I Can Sing A Rainbow!!!!!!!!!

It's World Card Making day in Australia over at Little Scrapbook Shop

We were given 3 challenges if we wanted to take up the challenge.

The first challenge was to create a set of 3 Birthday Cards

wcmdsetof3birthdaycards birthdaywish1
birthdaywish2 birthdaywishes3

The second challenge was to follow a sketch challenge - one of my fave challenges to do!!!!! I decided to go “round” and create a circle card. I was pleased how it turned out for a change.

wcmdsketchchallengea

And the third challenge was to create a Christmas card or 2 or 3 or more – it was up to ourselves. So I thought I’d create a “rainbow” set of cards.

Lately I have been making a lot of square cards from A4 cardstock. When I cut the square card that leaves me with all of these little offcuts which I just cant throw out. Then I came up with the idea to use some of them on these cards.

I kept these cards fairly simple - I used my Spellbinders Label Die set to create the shape and then stamped a Christmas Tree stamp by Kelly Panacci using brown ink. I added embellishments to each card - ribbons, buttons, bling, metal embellishments and other bits and pieces. I was happy how the rainbow turned out. I have to say these came together really quickly. You should give it a go.

Card Challenge

Another challenge was to create a card using a sketch form Little Scrapbook Shop. We also had to make it a "male" theme which made it a bit tricky but I did it.
I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the shapes and then added a tape measure (I have a thing for tape measures of late) and some little alpha stickers by Carolees Creations.

Thanks for popping in for a sticky.

Here is anothery

Another challenge was to create a layout with a "male" in it and to add some journalling that was staggered on the page.
Here is a rare shot of Sean and the kids taken in the city. Sean and I don't usually put our hand up for photos so this was a nice one that I captured.

Four Seasons Card Set

I have created these 2 cards for a sketch challenge over at Triple The Sketch.

I started by turning to sketch on its side and the going from there.

I have used the yummy BG patterned paper "Mellow - Deciduous" This would have to be one of my all time faves.

Then I grabbed 4 Making Memories "Cheeky Jigsaw" frames and inked up each one in red/orange/brown and green. I used kraft cardstock as the backing for each frame. The first 3 tree stamps are by See D's Inque Boutique - another fave of mine, and the blossom tree is by Pink Paislee - I stamped this 2 times, once onto kraft cs and cut out and then onto orange cs and then cut out flower individually.

The "winter" frame I added some white puff paint - waited for it to dry and then heated it to "puff it up". I have added some tiny alphas that I stamped out, cut out and inked each edge - boy did that get tricky - so these formed the names of the seasons - summer, autumn, winter and spring. I have used doubled sided foam tape here and there to give dimension, in paticular to the backs of the frames so they sit up.

I am really happy with these 2 cards - thinking I might sit them on the dresser in the kitchen - they are bright and cheery.

TFL.
