Something positive
A friend approached me on the weekend to ask if it would be ok for her mother to come along to our Craft Group at school. Of course it was ok - it was great.
So her mum came along today - she has been struggling for a few months as she left her home country of Sri Lanka with pretty much nothing.
So she came along to craft and thoroughly enjoyed herself. She joined in cups of teas, plenty of chatting -even though she struggles with English she really tried and she even learnt some new craft.
I just had a phone call from her daughter to thank me for making her welcome. It was my absolute pleasure.
I always tell me kids that there is always something positive going on around you - you just need to be able to SEE it.
Take care all of my dear friends.
Luv ya.

A very sad and uplifting day at the same time.
Yesterday was a sad day - we had the funeral of the school's principal wife.
It was a very moving mass and afterwards we celebrated Mary's life in our Parish Centre which was lovely.
I also found out that another parishoner (whom I was going to visit today in hospital) passed away. I was so sad to hear this news before I got to see her but God had other plans.
Rest in Peace - Mary and Wyn. Luv ya!!!!!!

Fun with recycling

Yesterday I had fun with recycling. (this is just a snippet in case they get snatched up for publication)
I keep all sorts of bits and pieces. I had a Basic Grey packaging form some chipboard and decided to whip up a couple of cards.
They turned out great so I put them in for publication. Shall let you know how I go.

Funny little story

I have a funny little story to tell you.
A couple of weeks ago I was heading out to the mail box to see if I had any mail.
While I was walking by I noticed a little bird - sparrow, he had jumped up onto our outside furniture out the front of our house. It is perishing a little in the weather and the stuffing is coming out of it. Anyway, the look on his face was priceless - he had a quick peck at the filling, gave a sideways glance and then flew off with this stuffing. I had to laugh - the cheeky little punk.
Now that would make a nice, soft, warm nest. LOL!!!!!
So I was hanging out washing this week and what flies by on the lawn? - the said nest. It was hilarious. At first I thought it was just a ball of fluff and then on closer inspection noticed it was a nest made from the stuffing. The bird obviously paid a few visits to the said couch to get the stuffing. LOL!!!!
I have always been fascinated with how birds make their nests - maybe that is why I have so many bird stamps. I have always loved birds too since I was a little girl.
Speaking of little girls - when I was old enough to know how to whistle - I would wake up before the birds and whistle away and drive everyone in the household mad...............LOL.
I had to take a photo of the nest for you as seeing is believing.

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day to all.
With everything that has been happening around her lately - Valentine's seems to have been put aside.
However, me being the romantic that I am still love to love!!!!!
Sean and I are going on a date tonight - well we are going to watch a movie in the comfort of our loungeroom which doesn't happen very often so we are looking forward to it. It will be nice.
Here is a cuppa that Sean made me a while ago. He loves making coffee and always tries out his latte art on me.
Hope you are having a lovey dove day.

Have been creating
Well I have been creating some cards this week all in readiness for Valentine's Day for the florist.
I dropped off 20 cards for them and created heaps other for a little craft stall at Berwick today.
My cards were a hit and I sold heaps - the most cards I've ever sold. Lot's of positive feedback and lots of happy people.
The craft stall was for a group called "Inner Wheel" which is the ladies side of Rotary Club. They were all so nice. They came from all over the district to enjoy a "friendship day". It was lovely.
I took our girls with me. Em was keeping a tally of how many cards and Tammy was the banker. I shouted them a McDonalds Sundae on the way home to say thanks for helping and joining in the fun.
There was only 4 stalls there - ours, a plant stall, produce stall and jewellery stall. The organizers only ask a select few so I was quite chuffed to be asked.
I must whisk a thank you card their way - I coudln't believe how nice they all were!!!

More sad news..................
Well we received sad news at primary school this morning. The Principal's wife lost her battle with cancer and died last night at 10 o'clock.
I must say that Mary was one of the spunkiest women I have ever met. She was always full of life and vibrant - we really feel for Mick - he always used to say "My Mary"...........anytime he spoke of Mary. I'm really going to miss her wicked sense of humour and her wicked, wicked laugh. She certainly lived a full life - that's for sure!!!!! They were such a lovely, loving couple. She will be missed by all.
Rest in peace Mary.

Life must go on................
.............I feel terrible moving on with my daily tasks, fortunately for me I can unlike so many who cannot today due to the fires.
However, we must keep "keeping-on" so I have been making some Valentines Day cards. I will share some photos with you all later.
Are you making any Valentines Day cards this year. Would love to see what you have created if you'd like to leave me a link to your card so we can check em out.

Just terrible...........
the death toll stands at 108 today. It is just unbelievable.
I read the Herald Sun newspaper this morning with tears in my eyes. People are starting to tell their stories - just shocking recounts.
I am heading off to the local branch of the National bank today for the Bushfire Fund. It is only something little but all will help.
I tell you what - this really brings things into prospective. Life is too short.
Praying for all.

Fires
Just popping in to say a quick hello.
Victoria has been hit hard with bush fires. If you are the praying type - say a prayer for all those that have lost lives, property and homes.
At this stage the deaths are over 60 - they are expecting it to be over 100.
Sad, sad news. The footage of the fires is very scary.
Some towns have been completely wiped out - no houses - nothing!!!!!
Nothing else I can say - its very upsetting.
Take care wherever you are in the world.

Card Classes In Warragul
I have not long been home from a great day in Warragul teaching Card Classes at Said Simply.
The day started off with a lovely latte made by my sidekick Leesa - well done Leesa - just what I needed. It was very pleased how the girlies are coming along in the classes. They are learning different techniques and being able to do most things by themselves now. Great to see!!!! Well done!!!!!
I already have the new kit to work on for next month's card classes which is an Easter theme - so look out - if you would like to book in for the class then you'd better give Marie a ring and she will add you to the list. There may be some little giveaways too I'm thinking............mwahahaha!!!!
For those living in Victoria - brace yourselves for the terrible day in order for tomorrow - with temperatures in the mid 40's its gunna be a scorcher. The weather people are comparing it to Ash Wednesday back in 1983 - I really feel for the fire fighters - they must be dreading it.
Hopefully the warm weather will come and go (far, far away) and all will be well.
Take care!!!! Stay cool.
Hope all is well in your part of the world.

Ready or not?????

Well I reckon the girlies were ready for their first day of Secondary School - not mum though!!!! Boo Hoo!!!! Gosh the last few days have been hard for me. I just kept looking at the girls and thinking where have all those years gone? I cannot believe both of them are off to high school.
I dropped them off this morning - they seemed excited and a little anxious. They soon caught up with the friends they made on Orientation Day (back in December) which was great!!!!!
I picked them up tonight and they were all smiles. They had a pretty much low key type day but an exciting one. I knew they would of course but the looks on their faces said it all.
So that's it - onwards and upwards.
Luv Sandie
(P.S. I've gotta say that there hasn't been any creating going on over the past few days - I think between the shocking heat and getting the girls ready for school I just haven't had the inclination - tomorrow's another day I say!!!!!)
