Stamps & Smiles Challenge No. 8

Here is my take on the sketch challenge over at Stamps & Smiles.
I have used the basket and flower stamps by Stampendous and the little bunny is by Judith.I used my cuttlebug to emboss four different pastel colours for the background to which I added a matching brad to each corner and then stamped the basket onto brown cardstock and cut out. I also added some bling to the centre of each flower and some kindy glitz to bunny's whiskers. I made a bow from purple organza ribbon and added a pearl pin and beads. The sentiment I just stamped out form a small alpha stamp set.

Cuttlebug Challenge

I came across the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog and decided to join in the fun.

I created a cupcake using a chipboard cupcake shape. I covered the bottom with some green paper which I embossed using the “Distress Stripes” folder, I also used this folder to emboss the frame of the card using some tan card stock.

For the cherry – I used red glossy cardstock and popped it through the Cuttlebug too using “Spots & Dots” embossing folder.

Now for the cupcake icing I used some “texture paste” this is yummy stuff – well you can’t eat it but it looks yummy!!!!!! I just used a spatula and iced it like icing a cake – voila!!!! I then added some beads to the icing which I just pressed into the wet mixture.

For the rest of the card I turned it into a Blackboard type look – and wrote the menu on the board. I also added tan brads to each corner.

That’s it.

So to got to and made these 3 cards.
For the 21st card I used silver card and embossed with the Congrats Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and added some blinga da bling!!!!
The 40th card I created using bits and pieces that Nicole from Craft Queen sent me to play with....yummy goodies too.

The Baby Shower cards was created using stamps by Heidi Grace.

Anothery

Here is another card I created for Caardvarks. I couldn't help myself. There's nothing like a good sketch to get the creative juices flowing.

I've done a male card this time - these are always the hardest cards to make.

I used Scenic Route pp and the red cog is actually out of an old cassette tape that Sean was throwing out - I saw it in my craft rubbish bin and quickly pulled the tape apart and hung onto them. They've been in my stash for quite some time now and I had that "aha" moment and couldn't help myself.

Thanks for looking.

WOW 16,000 HITS!!!!!!.......and A GIVEAWAY!!!!!

WOWZA!!!!! Just noticed that my blog has had 16,000 hits. Cool as!!!!!

I reckon that deserves a little giveaway.

All you need to do is make a list for me - it could be any type of list - shopping list, wish list, list of your favourite scrapping/card making tools etc. Whatever you like!!!!!
What do you usually make a list on - do you have a favourite notepad, do you recycle envelopes? Just grab whatever you normally would write a list on.

Then you need to take a photo of that list. Sounds weird I know but easy just the same.
Then leave a comment to this post and a link to your list. If you don't have a blog just send me an email with your photo.

So - happy list making.

I will leave this open for a week and visit again to see who's up for a prize.

Luv Sandie

It's up and running!!!!

Just letting you know girlies - I have added the photos to the Journal Stamp Swap Challenge.
I haven't as yet started decorating my album - that is this weekends challenge.
First I have to gather my photos - I have taken a couple already.

There is no rush with this challenge - the timing is up to you.

Take your time looking around at things you see - capture them, print them off and then start assembling and decorating your album.

I hope you have fun.

Anyone else that would like to join in can - you will just need the materials listed and the rest is up to you.

Ok - We're on - its Part 2 of the Journal Stamp Swap Challenge

(photo of what you should have already)

(You will need to grab an old cardboard box/corrugated cardboard
some luggage tags/system cards, some velcro and some rings)

(I will be using some self adhesive velcro squares to fasten with)

Are you ready for the next part of the Journal Stamp Swap Challenge? Gosh that's a mouthfull isn't it? LOL.

We are going to create a little altered album and the title is going to be "The Things I see!!!!"

You will need to take 6 photos of "things" that you see in a normal week.

For me I love to see rainbows, trees, birds, windmills - that sort of thing. So take note of the things around you that you love. We are talking "things" don't forget - not people.

Ok the next part requires a few bits and pieces (as well as general scrapbooking supplies)

1. An old cardboard box - or corrugated cardboard
2. 2 rings
3. Velcro or other means of fastening
4. Luggage tags/system cards(optional)
5. 6 pocket size photos ( you may like to print a collage type photos - I know when I use the photo machines at my chemist I can combine some photos onto one sheet - collage style - the photos will be smaller which will be suitable size)

Ok you will need to grab the little manila envelopes (6) and your little extra yellow envelope.

Step 1. You are going to be making a cover for the front and the back of your album using the corrugated cardboard - I just ripped an old box up and used it.
Make sure you make it slightly bigger than the envelopes.
Next punch 2 holes in the covers so that the rings can go through - you may like to re-inforce the holes with something at this stage also. Make sure you hold one of the manila envelopes against the cover so that the holes aren't too far apart.

(you will have to excuse the side on shot in this photo - I tried to alter it. You need to place the envelope onto the cardboard and mark the front and back cover slightly bigger than the envelope. Cut it out and distress if you wish)

Step 2. The idea of the little envelopes is to act like a pouch - we are going to be putting things inside the envelopes so make sure you punch 2 holes on the opposite side to the flap

(You can see in this shot that I have punched 2 holes in the envelope opposite side of the flap of the envelope)

(This shot shows the holes punched in the front and back cover - make sure these holes line up)

Step 3. The luggage tags are going to be used to place our journal stamp images onto - you will also be attaching a photo to each tag and any embellishments you wish. The ideas are up to you.
Once these luggage tags are finished you can pop them into the manila envelopes.
(You may also like to use something like System cards - the lined ones, as a way or journalling/recording - its up to you)

(I have used a luggage tag here - but you might like to use the System Cards instead or anything that fits into the envelope - this is where you will be adding the journalling stamps, photos and embellishments.)
(I placed the luggage tag inside the envelope and the tag was too long -so I ripped the end off - that way it wont be in the way of the punched holes.)

Step 4. If you wish you can add a fastener to each little envelope - I am going to use some velcro and I thought I might sew on some buttons and some string to wind around - its up to you!!!!!

Step 5. You may also like to decorate the outside of each envelope to give it the finished look.
You could add some of the journalling stamps or any embellishments or stamps.

Step 6. The little yellow envelope is up to you - you may like to add a little keepsake in there or some extra journalling.

Step 7. Now is the time to assemble the little album - gather up your completed envelopes, add the front and back covers and place the rings through the covers and envelopes.

(Don't forge to place the envelopes with the seam facing down - you can decorate the front and back of each envelope as well. Maybe you could add extra journal stamps to the outside as well)

You can finish the album with some string or ribbon through the rings.

I hope you enjoy creating this little album. I will be adding some photos of mine as I complete it over the next couple of days. My computer has been out of action up til tonight so I can get cracking with some photos tomorrow.

Any questions - just fire away.

Don't forget to share some progress shots - I would love to see what you come up with.

Luv Sandie

(GOSH - there is a lot to take in isn't there? It may be a good idea to wait til tomorrow - I will include some photos which will make it a lot clearer - hopefully!!!!! LOL)

Not tonight Josephine!!!!!

I was going to pop up the details of my Journal Stamp Swap Challenge however I have had a doozy of a headache and I am not feeling very washed out and am going to go to bed early.

Stay tuned tomorrow all that are in the swap - sorry for the hold up.

Ready, Set Go!!!! Journal Swap Challenge Part 2

Ok we are all ready for the next stage of the Journal Swap Challenge.

Everyone has received their goodies in the mail so now we can get to and do the next bit.

You all should have your little beige envelopes and 1 yellow envelope and of course the journal stamps as well as some little bits and pieces.

WE ARE GOING TO BE MAKING A LITTLE ALBUM TITLED "THE THINGS I SEE!!!"

I have included a photo of the extra bits and pieces you will need.

Old cardboard box - corrugated cardboard

2 Rings - size is up to you

System Cards - optional

Luggage tags (make your own or buy from newsagents)

6 photos of "the things you see" - rainbows, plants, birds etc

You will also need tools etc.

Now the idea is to take note of the "things" around you that make you happy.

I know for me I love rainbows - I took a photo of one this morning so I will be using that.

I also love nature - trees, birds etc.

Step 1 - create a front and back cover using the corrugated cardboard make sure to punch holes for the rings. You will need to measure it to be slightly bigger than the little envelopes

Decorate it as you wish and don't forget to add the title "THE THINGS I SEE"

Step 2 - Use your luggage tags or system cards to attach your photo - make sure you measure the card/tag to fit inside the envelopes - you can add journalling using the many journal stamp cutouts you now have, embellishments - the ideas are endless.

Step 3 - you can also decorate the actual envelopes themselves - you will also need to punch holes in each envelope to pop the rings through. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE OPENING OF THE ENVELOPES FACING OUT - DO NOT PUNCH THE FLAP OF THE ENVELOPE

If you would like to create a little clasp or tie down for each envelope you could do that too (I am going to use self adhesive velcro squares as seen in one of the photos).

Step 4 - once you have completed each tag/card pop them inside the decorated envelope and put the front and back cover on and pop the rings through. You can add ribbon etc to the rings or just leave plain.

Now I have had some projects on the go and haven't started my litte album yet - however as soon as I have some shots I will share with you.

The idea of the album is to have the photos in the little envelopes and to pull them out

If you have any questions - just fire away.

Have fun and don't forget show and tell.

Have A Great Day

Here is a card I just completed for a challenge over at Caardvarks. We had to use this sketch

I have used pp by Prima Marketing - which I love, a scallop circle punch, Kaisercraft black rhinestones, one of my orange Handmade Daisies and some Basic Grey trims and a vintage orange trim I found at a Garage Sale. I have also added some doodling and HeroArts ZigZag stitch stamp to the border.
I also used a HeroArts word stamp to stamp directly onto the orange trim using StazOn ink.

I AM ONE LUCKY LADY

Today I got to witness one of Gods miracles - I helped deliver Medina's second baby into the world. I can't believe that 18months ago I witnessed my first birth and then again today.
I am so blessed.

I got the phone call on my mobile phone at 2am - it was Medina "Sandie the baby is coming"
I haven't moved so fast in a long time - the funny part was that I had just been lying in bed since 1am contemplating if I would get out of bed or not. Wow.

I told Medina to ring the hospital and check with them what to do. She rang me back in a couple of minutes to say that she couldn't get onto them so she rang ahead for an ambulance.

In the meantime I headed around to her house. When I got there the ambulance was there already and Medina was getting in. I stayed with Stephen until Sean could get there to look after him and then I took off. I was speeding a little bit too - but I kept saying "if I have to get a speeding ticked - so be it, I'm not missing the birth"

So I arrived at 2.20am and things were all happening. Medina has such a huge pain threshold.....she did a marvellous job. OH and I got to cut the cord again - how spesh!!!!!

She had a little boy at 4.22am - yep contractions started at about 1 in the morning and she had him at 4.22 - unbelievable. He is absolutely gorgeous and very like his big brother Stephen.

Medina needed to speak to her mum back in Sudan. It is tradition to speak to the mother and she will let you know the chosen name for the baby.

So he is named after Medina's great, great grandfather

STEWARD OKENE

The meaning of Okene is "away from family" or something along those lines.

I will upload some photos over the weekend.

Top of the morning to ya!!!!!

Happy St Patrick's day!!!!!
Here is a layout I created last night. It was for another challenge at Little Scrapbook Shop.
We had to create a frame and add crackle medium to it.
I have used a photo of an old trestle bridge that we saw over the Christmas holidays - I just love old things and old bridges would have to be one of my fave things to stumble across on our journey.
I have added some flowers and buttons and the tree chipboard using the negative to which I have added an artifical leaf to the back of the chipboard - I was happy how that turned out.

Thanks for looking.
