Spent the day at Cindy's today

I spent most of the day at Cindy's today. She created the most wonderful thing for me.
I will show you tomorrow - I have to wait a bit longer for it to "do its thing" LOL.
While I was entertaining little Kade - gorgeous kid, Cindy was working magic with a wonderful little kit - which by the way I WANT NOW!!!!!!

Back for more details tomorrow.

Thank you so, so much Cindy. Very generous of you.
Give that little guy a big kiss for me - he's just great!!!!!

Luv Sandie

(Edited to add the photo - Cindy kindly made me my very own stamp for my labels instead of handwriting them like I did the other day - all 50 of them. I have one for the back too with my contact lucky am I? Very lucky I say)

Jeans For Genes Day Friday 1st August

This Friday is Jeans for Genes Day. So I thought I'd set a little challenge for anyone who wants to take me up on it.

You need to create a card using blue tones - you may even have some denim laying around you could use. The ideas are endless.

Dont forget to leave a comment for me with a link to your card. I will pop mine back here when I get it done.

Thanks for joining in.

Luv Sandie

As I mentioned yesterday I am going to be holding a competition here on my blog. I will wait to the end of August to announce the commencement date.
All you need to do is to use one of my Paper String Daisies on a card, layout or OTP -the choice is yours. I would love to see what you come up with.

So if you have purchased some already - well you can get a head start.

Happy creating.

Well business is booming or should I say "blooming"....LOL

Well I haven't popped in for a couple of days because business has been booming with my little Paper String Daisies. I have been making them in my sleep ................LOL.
I just love them and as I am finding out - so do other people. Cool. Can't believe how quickly things are moving.
I would just like to thank everyone who has purchased some so far.
At some stage - probably in a couple of months time I am going to hold a little Blog Competition for anyone who has purchased any. There will be some giveaways involved so you'd better stay tuned for that one.

That's all for now.

CPS Sketch 74

Here is my take on Sketch 74 over at CPS. Once again I have taken the photo late at night and its looking rather average. I shall re-take photo in the morn - but for now here it is.

I have used my cuttlebug again for the purple cs, my paper daisies and some trims, the pp is by Heidi Grace and the "love" stamp is by StampinUp.

Thanks for looking.

What's everyone up to?

What's everyone up to this weekend?

The kids have monday off so we have a long weekend - cool!!!!!

Today I went to watch the kids play in the Inter-School sports - they only travelled 10 mins from school so that was great.
Josh and Em played in the same team in Newcomb - unfortunately lost by 1 game but had a great time and Tam played Netball and their team won. It was another magnificent day today so that made it pleasant.

I'm going to do some more creating again this weekend in amongst some social outings.

Really looking forward to kicking back!!!!

Have fun everyone.

Drop back in tomorrow as I have some photos of my latest goodies purchased and RAKed.

Today's events

Boy I am exhausted - I spent the morning at the Fiskars Warehouse sale in Port Melbourne.
Man was that an eye opener. I was blown away by the amount of stuff that people were buying.
It reminded me of those shopping sprees - you know the ones where you only have say 1 minute to put whatever you can into your trolley. Some people were coming out with bucket loads of stuff. One lady apparently had 8 bags of stuff. Here I was with one green bag (the grocery ones) full of little bits and pieces - most of the items were an average of 5ocents up to about $10.00 I suppose. I spent $20.00 and was pumped. Can safely say I wouldn't go again as it was bumper to bumper in the warehouse. When I first set foot in there I was wedged between people in the same position for at least 20 mins before I could move. So the only option was to stand where you were, look at whatever was in front of you, even if you didn't want it............LOL, and wait until somebody moved. Not exactly my idea of a good time - but hey - there were some serious bargains to be had!!!!!!!
Took the train in with Sean's mum got picked up at the warehouse when I was done by Sean's aunt and then back to her home in Port Melbourne for lunch. Now that was great - she has an old home and I just loved checking everything out. She made yummy Pea & Ham soup, salad followed by gorgeous Apple Tea Cake.
We then caught the train home again so I could pick up the kidlets from school.
We went to visit our Sudanese friends Geroge & Medina and gorgeous little man Stephen.
Boy is he one little spunk. He has changed so much. George and Medina cut his hair - it was heading for an afro but they cut it so its nice and short - he looks like a real little spunk. I must get an updated photo to share with you all. I could just eat him up.
While we were there the bestest thing happened - he took his first step. We were jumping up and down and clapping away - he had a look on his face as if to say - "What's all the fuss about?"
Gorgeous little thing.
Decided not to go to STARS tonight - I deserved a night off I reckon so that is what I did.

Recovery day tomorrw I reckon.

Hope everthing is going ok for you in your part of the world.

Can you relate to this? it just me??????

I just had to share this with you girlies. For years now I have been saying to my friends "dont ya wish you could buy the guys in the catalogues?"

Too funny. It really tickled my fancy. LOL!!!!

Luv Sandie

(P.S. Sorry for the poor image - I think its because its got a glossy finish on it...oh well)

LilyBean's Paperie Card Sketch Challenge

Here is a card I completed for a sketch challenge over at LilyBean's Paperie.

I've got to say how much I love this sketch. And another thing I'm luvin lately (and I can probably here you saying "not again") is the gorgeous patterned paper by PinkPaislee "green lace". I have had 3 sheets of this pp and used it on so many different things. I would have to say its one of my all time fave's - so soft and romantic. Anyway - nuff of me prattling on!!!!

I have used Bling Bazzill as the base cardstock and also cream card. Then I have used Whimsical Frames by Autumn Leaves to stamp the rectangular frame onto the Pink Paislee pp. I then stamped a smaller flourish frame by KaiserCraft and added "thanks a lot" by StudioG.

Of course I am promoting my "Paper String Daisies" lately so OF COURSE I had to add one of these to my card - you can buy them here at My Esty Store. I also added a little paper flower for the centre of the paper string daisy.

I know I always take a couple of photos - but I do like to show you close ups of things that interest me and hope they interest someone else too......LOL. I have included the close up of the trims at the bottom of the card. I found this great Kraft Paper tape - bit like packing tape - its like a kraft paper with a coating over the top of it. I thought it would be shnazzy to use of cards and scrap pages. It was only $2.00 for a roll its 36mm x 20metres. Cool as hey!!!!

I also added some Craft Lace Border which I have had in my stash for a little while and wanting to use. Other products - pearls by Kaisercraft and brads.

That's it I think.

Thanks for dropping in.

Luv ya.....................Sandie

Sketch This - Sketch 57

All things natural with this card. I've gone for a natural type of feel with this card and a slightly different take on the sketch. Take a look at the sketch here

I have used 3 tags across the top and used the punched out holes of the tags for the centre of the flowers. Some natural green twine and some burgandy trim and I gathered some of the grossgrain green ribbon.

Thanks for looking.

Triple The Sketch - Sketch No. 15

Here is my take on Triple The Sketch for this week.

I have done some recycling for this card. I have used another one of my cards from the deck of cards that I bought at the op-shop. I have also recycled the packaging from a stamp from HeidiSwapp - the black glossy with the polka dot pattern down the side. (You can see another package on the left - I just card the name etc off)

For the playing cards I cut out rectangles and then added some flower rub-ons by Kaiser to each of the centres. I also cut a small tag from the playing card and added a "dream" rub-on too attached with a red heart brad.
The white rub-on down the bottom of the black card is also by Kaiser.

I luv to recycle.

Thanks for looking.

Inspiration Challenge at Little Scrapbook Shop

Ok for this challenge we had to draw inspiration from this artwork and create something.

I have created this card. PP is unknown, Kaiser Rub-ons (amazing for me as I usually stamp), good old dymo for the title and various buttons and flowers.

Thanks for looking.

Luv Sandie

Another card and some chit chat

Josh played footy this morning and they won by about 40 odd points. It was rather muddy - but of course the boys just loved that didn't they? LOL.

Home for a nice cooked lunch by Sean's mum - how cool is that? Way cool I say!!!!!

We had beautiful homemade pumpkin soup, scones and Lemon Delicious for dessert. Yummo!!!!!

I have just made this card. It was another challenge for Little Scrapbook Shop. We had to do stamped paper piecing. So that basically means stamping a stamp several times on different cardstock or patterned paper to give it a different look.

Here is mine. I have used Rebekka Erickson pp, red/denim cardstock, icypole sticks, stamps are by Upsy Daisy Desings and alpha stamps by Delish. I have also added staples, buttons and brown/white gingham trim.

Thanks for dropping by.

Luv Sandie

Gosh it's always busy around here............

Sean's family dropped in again on their way back from visiting Sean's sister. So that meant we had 6 extra people in the house last night. They left just before lunch this morning.
After lunch I took the girls and Sean's mum off to Spotlight as they had a Knitting Expo on. It was great to see some different ideas. Bought myself a georgeous ball of red wool to knit a scarf so I had better get knitting so I can show it off to you all.

Josh plays footy tomorrow so we have to leave here by 8.15am..........arghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

I hope everyone is having a beaut weekend.

Luv ya.............Sandie

Card Sketch

Here is a card I completed over at Little Scrapbook Shop as a card sketch.

I have used Pink Paislee pp - which I just love, the stamp is my HeroArts, flowers by Prima and Heart Pin by HeidiGrace.

By Jingo's

By jingo's its mighty cold here today. Apparently the snow resorts have great reports of heaps of snow so no doubt they will be busy this weekend - especially being the last weekend of the school holidays.
I'm hoping for a nice quiet day today to just veg out. The kids have a dental checkup this morning and then Tammy is going shopping with her friend and her friend's mum so she will be happy.
I've started to clear my desk a little in preparation for some creating. Stay tuned to some photos over the weekend hopefully.

What are you up to this weekend?

Take care.

Wednesday, 9 July 2008

It's been a while............

This is a long story but I will try and keep it as brief as I can.

It's nearly going back 10 years since I saw my grandmother (Dad's mum).

Unfortunately my gramma has had it in for my mum for a very long time. When our Josh was born I visited my gramma and she started to treat me a little like she had treated my mum. I swore that was it............"I'm not going to let her do that to me too!!!". So in all of these years I haven't visited her.
The sad part about all of this is that our kids didnt know her all this time either.

A couple of months ago a relative of ours mentioned that she was visiting her grandmother. Our Tammy was fascinated that this relative's grandmother was still alive and talked about it for quite some time. It really got me thinking how terrible it was that our kids didn't know that they still had a great grandmother alive. I just felt awful.

So as I mentioned in my previous post, I visited my mum and dad. So on the journey to visit my folks I gave a quick rundown to the kids about my gramma. They were a little stunned at first I think and then proceeded to ask questions.
When we arrived at the Hostel where she lives I was so nervous. I explained how I was feeling to the kids and they were really great and just held my hand and told me it would be ok.
So in we go to the hostel. A kind nurse showed us to gramma's room and in we all walked.
I went over to her and gave her a big hug and was quite overwhelmed by the whole thing I just cried. I couldn't believe how great she looked - just how I remembered her the last time I saw her. She is coming up for 93 next month - boy I'd be happy looking like her at 70 - I wish!!!!!
She asked me what was wrong. I couldn't answer her and just wiped the tears away. I then introduced the kids to her. She was so pleaesd to see us all. We probably stayed for about 40 mins. The kids were getting a little restless and I must admit that it was enough for me. I needed to go and clear my head. The relief as I walked away was great. I had been carrying the guilt around with me for 10 years - something I hadn't really shared with anyone except for Sean. I have forgiven her for what she said to me that last day and I am ready to move on.
It was a great day and I am truly thankful.

Just had to share it with you as it means so much to me.

Luv Sandie

We're back...............

Gotcha............see you didn't even know we were gone................LOL.

After Sean's family left on Monday the kids and I took off to my mum and dad's for 2 nights. Sean had to work unfortunatley but he understands us wanting to get our fix of "my" family.............LOL.
It was a short but sweet visit. The kids love it as they can just plonk around and do what they want. My sister has a WII toy so they luv to use that.
I had a shopping day to myself yesterday which was nice. Managed to buy 2 new tops - a red and a green one - my fave colours and a few other bits and pieces.

Home this afternoon to take Josh to footy training which was good but mighty cold.

Looking forward to spending a few quiet days with the kids on their last few days of the school holidays. Hope to managed to get a couple of sleep-ins at least.

Need to clear my desk tomorrow as a bomb has hit it. Really looking forward to creating again.

Hope you are all well.

Take care.

Something exciting................................

You have to keep dropping in as over the next week or so I have some exciting news to share.

That's all I can tell you for now.

Luv Sandie

(P.S. in case you are wondering ...................I am NOT pregnant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Here are the goodies I found at the op-shop

As promised I am showing you my goodies I found at the op-shop.

Some old books, little records - one of them has a bird on the front - I can feel an OTP coming on with this one, some old bridge score books/notes etc - these look cool there are little strips of paper which i think I can add to layouts cards etc, some old coasters ready to be altered, a gorgeous old fashioned chopping board (at the back) and some circular playing cards - they are in the front - how cool are they? Not something you'd come across too often that's for sure.

So they have all been added to my growing stash of things just waiting to be used. When I make something I will be sure to add them to my blog to share with you.

Well I had better get back to things. Still have Sean's family with us. I should be up and running with things on Wednesday night hopefully.

Hope all is well in your part of the world.

Take care.

Oooh, oooh, oooh I 've just gotta tell everyone - I was one of the 3 Winners of the Pink Paislee Contest at CMK. How cool is that? Way cool I say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL.

Not sure what I've won I'm just stoked that I did. The other 2 entries were fantastic- one of which was my mate Renee. Way to go Renee.

This was my winning entry.

Thanks for popping by.

Luv Sandie

Finally my Joshie is home. He came home about 6.30 last night. I just kept giving him lots of cuddles and kisses - luckily he is a kissy boy but I reckon he probably thought that I may have over killed it a little...............LOL. I am so, so pleased to see his cheeky little face back again.
Of course he had the bestest time.

I have been very busy this week I must say. We have Sean's brother, sister-in-law and their 4 teenage kids staying with us. They leave tomorrow morning and then Sean's other brother, sister-in-law and 2 teenage kids stay for a few nights. Its pretty full on.

I had to go to the dentist this morning as I have had a sensitive tooth. Luckily I could get in this morning. Apparently it was one of my fillings from years ago. The dentist seems to think it may have been leaking a little. So she dug the old one out and popped a new one in. I'm still feeling a little numb but other than that pretty good. At least I will be able to eat and drink without cringing.

Fish and chips or takeaway for everyone tonight thank goodness. I can have a night off with the cooking so that will be nice.

Hoping to check out some garage sales in the morning to see if we can find a bargain or 2.

I went op-shopping yesterday actually and got a bag of bits and pieces for $ as.
I shall take a photo later of all the goodies.

Well I hope everything and everyone is well in your part of the world.

Love to hear from ya.

"Girls Day Out"

Well I have just come back from a girls day out with my girlies. We took off on the 8.10 train this morning into the city. Arrived just after 9 and our first stop was at one of those whacky photo booths. So we got some silly shots. The funniest ones are the ones where we weren't ready ....................LOL. I shall pop them up on my blog later.
Then we headed to the market for a quick look around there - mainly the little shops of the outskirst of the market. Jumped on a tram and then headed into the city. We had McDonald's for lunch. Boy it was nice. We haven't done this before - just us girlies anyway. The girls mentioned a couple of times that they were really enjoying themselves and thanked me for taking them. Lots of happy/silly memories.
